Born 19 November 1958 in Poprad. He is married to Katarína and they have two children, Vincent and Veronika. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice in 1982, he worked at the District Office of the Public Prosecution.
He became a lawyer in 1993. In the summer of 1990, he set out on a journey, “Following in the Footsteps of Vincent van Gogh”, and visited all the places where this famous artist lived and worked. Inspired by this travel, he built the famous Yellow House of Vincent van Gogh in Poprad and opened it on 11 September, 1993. From 1993 to 2000 he organised numerous exhibitions of Slovak artists in Slovakia and abroad.
In 1994 he went to the Netherlands and met Gerard Meulensteen and in 1999 they launched the construction of the first private modern art museum in Slovakia which opened on 9 September 2000. On the same day, the Yellow House of Vincent van Gogh ceased its activities and the new institution, the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava – Čunovo, became its continuation. Since the opening of the Danubiana in 2000, he has been its first director. In 2000 he received the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic Award for the successful completion of this project. As the director of the Danubiana, he has organised many domestic and foreign exhibitions. He is the author and co-author of art books and catalogues.
