The sculptor Oto Bachorík exploits two principal methods: sculpting and modelling. The technical approach of his choice determines the selection of materials: he prefers chiselling stone, carving wood or modelling clay and plaster. Most of his sculptures are cast in bronze. He has a preference for the motifs of female figures, proud rulers, victors, protectors and guardians. Their distinctive monumentality and majestic integrated sculptural form is reminiscent of the elements of archetype and the mythological legacy of history. Their matte surface radiates magical shimmering, rough dramatic structures and the combination of both. Temptation is a sculpture from the series of female figural compositions, conceived as a modern mermaid – part woman and part fish. Its slender almost dematerialised body radiates tranquillity and symbolises eternal messages. It is the guardian of the land where our unsettled history was written.
