The first Lady of the Syrian Arab Republic, Madam Asma Al – Assad visited our museum on 30 April 2009 on the eve of the opening of the exhibition of Robert Combas. She viewed the exhibition and the sculpture park and expressed a great interest in the history of the Danubiana and the past exhibitions. She also wanted to know how an institution like this operated in our conditions. At the end of her visit she expressed her interest in showing the collection of Slovak modern art from the Gerard Meulensteen Collection and the Danubiana at a solo exhibition in Damascus.
