During their official visit to the Slovak Republic on 2-3 July 2002, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain and Her Majesty Queen Sophia and their suite came to the Danubiana to attend the opening of the exhibition of a famous Spanish sculptor Mart í n Chirino.
The royal visitors also met the representatives of the museum and invited guests, namely Spanish businessmen and citizens working in Slovakia. This precious visit was held in a friendly and festive atmosphere and was one of the most important visits in the history of the museum.
